A house for the art of the Near East and Asia
Somewhere along the way, every bedroom turned beige.
White duvet, grey throw, one print above the bed: it photographs well and feels like nothing. In the houses of the Near East and Asia, beds and walls were dressed in cloth printed by hand. We bring that cloth to your door.
Hand block-printed counterpanes, £399 for a pack of two, delivered to your door with the duties paid. Free UK delivery over £499.

The difference is cloth
Look at the rooms you save and the rooms you remember. The bed is dressed, the walls are dressed, pattern sits beside pattern. It is how the great houses of the Near East and Asia were furnished, and it is the one thing a quiet room is missing.
On the bed
A counterpane printed by hand, block by carved block, makes the plainest bed the reason people remember the room.
On the wall
A panel hung from a brass pole does what a painting does, and it is made to the size of your wall.
Together
Pattern beside pattern, colour against colour.

Five walls, and a size to start from for each. Every panel is then made to your own measurements.

Where the first collection is made
The panels are woven by households in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, then bound, finished and packed in our family workshop there.
- Every piece is new and made to order. None is an antique, and we never describe one as such.
- A cotton sleeve is sewn across the back of each panel, so a curtain pole carries it and nothing is nailed through the weaving.
- If a piece arrives damaged or unlike its description, we refund or replace it, and you keep it.
The best art has usually come from places of grief and violence. It is my personal mission to find that art and bring it to the world.

From the workshop to your door
You choose
A counterpane, a panel and the measurements of your wall. Ask, and we send photographs of the piece first.
We make it
Made to order after you pay, finished to your measurements, and sealed into the Thursday consignment.
It comes to your door
6 to 10 days by FedEx, with the duties and taxes already paid by us. Nothing to pay on arrival.
Will I have to pay anything when it arrives?
No. Duties and taxes are paid by us before the parcel reaches you. There is no card through the door, no payment link and no collection from a depot. What you pay at checkout is the whole amount.
How much is delivery?
Delivery to any UK address is £75, and free on orders of £499 or more. It is shown beside the price, in the basket and at checkout, and duties and taxes are paid by us either way.
How long does it take?
Each panel is cut to your measurements and its edge bound first, which can take up to two days. Orders then join the week’s consignment, which is sealed in Malwa on Thursday evening. Transit is then 6 to 10 days to any UK address.
Can you make it to the size of my wall?
Yes. Every panel is made to your measurements, up to 152 × 213 cm and at least 60 cm each way. On its page the size starts at the full piece; reduce the width or the drop to fit, and you pay for the smallest piece it can be cut from. Because it is made to your specification, once work begins it cannot be cancelled for a change of mind, so measure twice.
How does it hang?
A cotton sleeve is sewn across the back of the top edge and a curtain pole slides through it, so nothing is nailed through the weaving. A 28 mm wooden pole and a pair of brackets from any hardware shop will carry it. The size guide covers fixings for plasterboard, brick, and lath and plaster.
What if it does not suit the room?
You can cancel any order within 24 hours of paying, for any reason. After that, a panel is made to your measurements and cannot be cancelled for a change of mind. Counterpanes and other standard pieces keep your 14-day right to cancel after they arrive, and we collect them at our cost. If anything arrives damaged or unlike its description, we refund or replace it, and you keep it.
