Deep madder red, with a round ivory medallion washed in grey-blue and a border of ivory and old gold.
Good furniture and bare walls make a room that is tasteful and quickly forgotten. A panel hung from a brass pole gives the room a centre, the way a tapestry did in a country house.
The Madder Medallion is machine-woven pile, hand-bound and hand-finished, made to the width and drop you give us, and finished by hand in our family workshop in Malwa.

Will I have to pay anything when it arrives?
No. Duties and taxes are paid by us before the parcel reaches you. There is no card through the door, no payment link and no collection from a depot. What you pay at checkout is the whole amount.
How much is delivery?
Delivery to any UK address is £100, and free on orders of £499 or more. It is shown beside the price, in the basket and at checkout, and duties and taxes are paid by us either way.
How long does it take?
Each panel is cut to your measurements and its edge bound first, which can take up to two days. Orders then join the week’s consignment, which is sealed in Malwa on Thursday evening. Transit is then 6 to 10 days to any UK address.
Why is a second counterpane only £99?
Because it travels in a parcel that is already being sent: the box, the delivery and the customs entry are paid for once. The first counterpane in an order is £249; every one after it, and any counterpane in an order with a panel, is £99.
Can you make it to the size of my wall?
Yes. Every panel is made to your measurements, up to 122 × 176 cm and at least 60 cm each way. On its page the size starts at the full piece; reduce the width or the drop to fit, and you pay for the smallest piece it can be cut from. Because it is made to your specification, once work begins it cannot be cancelled for a change of mind, so measure twice.
How does it hang?

Counterpanes and other standard pieces keep your 14-day right to cancel after they arrive, and we collect them at our cost. If anything arrives damaged or unlike its description, we refund or replace it, and you keep it.
What is it made of?
Machine-woven pile, hand-bound and hand-finished. We will state the fibre composition only once the workshop has given it to us in writing. Until then this page says so rather than guessing.
Who makes them?
Weaving households in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, central India, with the family workshop that binds, finishes and packs each piece.
Why are there no reviews?
Because nobody has written one about this piece yet, and we will not invent any. Writing reviews that were never received is against the law in the United Kingdom, and it is the quickest way to lose someone who buys with judgement.
Do you deliver outside the United Kingdom?
Not yet. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland only. Write to us if you are elsewhere and we will tell you plainly whether we can manage it.
